Is your old clothing too worn out to donate it? Does it have tears and large holes that make it impossible to wear? Well it doesn’t need to end up in a landfill if it is unsuitable for the public eye! Most people are unaware of recycling programs in their neighborhood that are dedicated to reusing old clothing. And you don’t have to go out of your way to find a program!

Organizations like Goodwill and Salvation Army take all donations and sort through them all, one by one. Any clothing that is deemed “unwearable” is then sent to recycling programs that specialize in reusing old fabrics. Many of these fabrics are used to make new blankets, paper, clothes, and many other everyday textiles.

Instead of buying new dish clothes, why not reuse some of your old clothing? Old and ripped shirts can be cut up into usable rags for cleaning and polishing. It’s an excellent way to reuse old garments and save money!

If you have children or young siblings, why not create arts and crafts projects with old and torn fabric? Use old sequins and ribbons from clothing to create wonderful art. Let their imaginations run wild! Creativity is good for the soul and helps in development of young minds! It’s is also a great time to bond with your kids.
